The Meadow Farm Museum is located atop a grassy knoll in Glen Allen where guides in costumes take visitors on a tour of the living and working farm telling stories of everyday life during the mid-nineteenth century. Originally owned and operated by Dr. John Mosby Sheppard and his wife, the museum is representative of a middle-class farm. The farm is equipped with a barn, smokehouse, doctor’s office and tobacco barn. The animals that now live on the 150 acres of pasture and woodlands are cows, horses, sheep, pigs and fowl that were typically bred during the nineteenth century.
Glen Allen real estate features a variety of housing developments to choose from. Some of these include the following communities:
Wyndham is a large planned community with a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts and walking trails among other amenities. They have different types of low-maintenance attached and detached, single-family homes and you can walk or ride a golf cart to nearby grocery shopping, restaurants, pavilion and an indoor pool and spa. CrossRidge is a gated community filled with a variety of recreational, social and cultural activities and there is a full time recreational director to help you get the most out of the available amenities.
